Exploring Cala Blava

Cala Blava is one of Mallorca’s gems, one of the coves that locals will definitely recommend once you ask for their opinion. It’s a place full of history and, without a doubt, the top choice for tourists looking to enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea under the sun. We know you’ll want to visit too, and that’s why in this article, we’ll give you all the details you need to know about Cala Blava to ensure you have a dream experience.

How to Get to Cala Blava

Getting to Cala Blava is very easy, and you can do it either by public transport or private vehicle. If you choose the first option, you can take line 23 of Palma’s municipal bus service. The bus departs from Porta des Camp, the trip takes approximately 45 minutes, and the frequency is every 25 minutes.

On the other hand, if you have your own vehicle or have rented one, you will need to take the Palma-Llucmajor highway and take exit 13, which indicates El Arenal – Cala Brava. Then, simply follow the signs.

What Cala Blava is Like

If you’re wondering what Cala Blava in Mallorca is like, you might be surprised to learn that it’s not a large beach, but rather a small cove situated at the mouth of a stream. It has sand and is framed by a spectacular landscape of low rocks with vegetation in the back. In total, it’s about 30 meters long and 20 meters wide.

If you want to swim, you can do so without any issues here since there are hardly any waves, and the sandy bottom continues underwater. However, keep in mind that there isn’t much shade, but there is a small beach bar offering loungers, umbrellas, and refreshments to cool off from the heat.

As you might imagine, the water is crystal clear, and because of the lack of waves, there’s no suspended sand, making Cala Blava a perfect spot for snorkeling. The marine life here is diverse, so we definitely recommend you try some diving.
